Julie Ayers leads the Tax practice in Aprio’s Charlotte office in North Carolina. Julie’s area of concentration is real estate, but her deep knowledge of tax law and strategic application of regulations make her a sought-after advisor across a variety of industries.
One of Julie’s passions is helping women-owned businesses succeed. Julie assists female business owners by educating them on general business topics, important tax law changes, grants and business opportunities. Julie also specializes in providing accounting and financial advisory services for charter schools. Her commitment to education and client service ensures that Aprio’s charter school clients are able to run and grow financially successful learning institutions. Her client work and strong business relationships with charter school consultants and the North Carolina Charter School Association have positioned Aprio as a leader in providing charter school accounting and audit services.
Julie spent the early part of her career working for Community Management Corporation, a prominent property management company in Washington, D.C. In this role she developed strategies to reduce the financial burdens that unsold condominiums placed on associations and property owners. This experience kindled her interests in becoming a CPA as well as her personal approach to business consulting.
Julie has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and completed the CPA program at the University of Virginia. Through the AICPA, she earned her Chartered Global Management Accountant designation and is a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional.
Julie is active in the community and has been a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and has served as treasurer and president of the board of NAWBO’s chapter in Charlotte, North Carolina. She currently serves as treasurer of Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity and First Generation Success. Julie is an also an active member of the Charlotte chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization.
In her free time, Julie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
