I sat with the beautiful Valonda Calloway on the My Carolina Today show and we talked briefly about the concept of Body Placement and what that all means.
Body Placement! Oooh, it sounds so mysterious, doesn’t it?
First, I must say that Body Placement is a term I use to illustrate the importance of where you place your body. Often times we’re not fully conscious of why we find ourselves in any given place. We just do what we do and go where we go. Not a lot of forethought is given as to why, we just do it, right?
On a good day, you might ask yourself the question, should I go here or should I go there. The true power lives in that sweet spot within from which you ask the question.
Let’s look at Body Placement for a minute.
First of all it is one “component” of five within a tool we call The P3 Circles of Life™.
The P3 Circles of Life™ are The Spiritual Self” where vision and purpose lives, "The Emotional Self" where thoughts feelings and emotions reside and "The Physical Self" where “Image, Organization, Health and Nutrition, Body Placement and Time Management live.
We have determined that this tool is most effective when all circles are in congruency. Without vision, thought and body alignment and congruency , we’re simply meandering through life hoping and wishing for fleeting moments of focus and bliss.
So it’s critical that you find your purpose, get your emotions in check to be in alignment with vision and take the necessary actions which are given to you in the physical self.
Now, open the door to discuss The Physical Self; aspect, Body Placement.
If you are clear about vision, and your emotions are in alignment with the vision, you can now ask yourself a few questions:
Who will aid in fostering my vision?
Who can elevate me to be a high achiever in my vision?
Who can call me to be greater than I know myself to be?
Where do I need to find myself going day in and day out?
What activities do I engage myself in?
What organizations shall I associate myself with?
What company shall I keep?
Who shall I find myself mingling with?
What activities shall I eliminate that are out of alignment with my vision?
These are just a few questions that will begin to dictate your body placement. Once you start strategically placing your body in areas of alignment, you’ll find life is much more fulfilling and rewarding.
Give it a try! But first know your vision, know yourself and be true to your authentic self.
Feel free to contact me directly for your P3 Power Session where we will begin the journey of discovery. It will be the best 60 minutes of your life. Remember, body placement is all about “alignment”.

When we talk about getting rid of clutter, thoughts turn to the overstuffed closet, the packed garage and all the piles of papers and odd knick knacks that we have lying around the house. It makes sense to get rid of all of that excess stuff.
But when we talk about getting rid of clutter, we should also look at time clutter. When you get to the end of the day and you realize that you’ve done a lot but accomplished little, chances are you a victim of time clutter.
When clients lament about not having enough time, I just smile. We all have the same amount of time and sure children, long commutes, demanding bosses that demand ‘face time’ in the office, and family and social obligations play a role, almost all of us can find some time in their day … if we want to.
I talk to people who insist adamantly that they don’t have time and for those people, I don’t have much to say. They are convinced that they don’t have time and nothing I say will convince them otherwise… if this is you, stop reading now.
However, if you want to create more time in your day and get rid of time clutter, then consider the following.
Question Your Obligations : There is probably at least one thing you do that you can get rid of – social activities you no longer enjoy, extra assignments you took on. Do you really need to do those things? I started a photography club some years ago. It was supposed to be a casual club and basically a way for photographers to get together. Before long, I had over 60 members. I was taking dues, and spending hours every week looking for guest speakers and finding events. I began to loathe that club. I continued for about a year out of obligation but when I disbanded the club after that, I felt a weight lift off of my shoulders; it was definitely the right thing to do.
Use Your Downtime : Use your work commute to listen to a book on tape. If you have a hands-free device, use that time to return phone calls. If you are waiting for the kids to finish a practice or a class, use that time to make your shopping list or to balance your checkbook. Time spent commuting on a train can be golden. I return calls while walking my dog. When I have a doctor’s appointment, I take something with me to do: checkbook, grocery list, to do list or just some reading I need to catch up on.
Be Strategic : If you don’t need to have a conversation, you just need to give someone some information, try returning calls during lunch time or in the early evening when the person isn’t likely to be in. If they aren’t around, you can leave a voicemail or better yet respond via email. Now, if you need questions answered or clarification on an issue, the best thing to do is pick up the phone and talk to the person. There is nothing more time consuming than having a conversation going back and forth voicemail. Emails that go back and forth are also major time wasters, if you are getting into a volley of emails, it’s probably best to just pick up the phone and call.
Be Mindful of Media : I know people who brag about not having time to watch TV. Yet, many of these people spend an inordinate amount of time on the computer: emailing, Facebooking, and surfing the Internet. In terms of media, moderation is key. Only watch TV shows that you truly enjoy. Set a time limit for how long you will be on the computer and honor it. You can almost always do with less TV and internet (but by all means, continue to read this blog!).
Start Earlier or End Later : Get up a half hour earlier or stay up a half hour later. Or split the difference get up 15 minutes early and stay up 15 minutes later. Use that time to get some little things done: laundry, chores around the house, returning emails. It can make a big difference.
Keep an eye out for time clutter. Once you become aware of it, you will begin finding pockets of time that can be used more effectively or areas that need to be de-cluttered.

January has been designated as Get Organized Month . January is the time for new beginnings, making resolutions and setting goals. Adding organization to that mix increases your chances of success.
Regardless of what your goals are, everything will run a little smoother with a little organization. Clearing clutter alone could eliminate 40% of household chores - freeing up valuable time that you could use to exercise, write that novel you’ve been thinking about, or spend some extra quality time with the family.
A little organization can go a long way to helping you eliminate extra stress. If your mornings run smoother, you will be setting a positive tone that can follow you through the day. Less stress can be a boon for you as well, if your goals include weight loss or smoking cessation.
Here are a few of the organization tips that have helped me the most.
A Proper Place or Space : Find a convenient and logical place for items you frequently misplace like keys, glasses and cell phones. I purchased a small stand with a single drawer that fits perfectly by my door. In it, I place my keys and the dog’s leash. It’s convenient because it’s right by the door and it’s easy to just throw my keys in it or on top of it.
List It : Before leaving work, take a minute or two to jot down everything you need to take care of tomorrow. This way you won’t leave with that nagging feeling that you’ve forgotten something. If you do think of something on the drive home, simply call your work voicemail and leave yourself a message! I also do a more general list at the end of the day for personal issues.
Hangers and Hampers : In the morning, when I dress, I hang my hangers on the closet door or place them on top of my hamper. In the evening, I get dressed standing in front of the hamper. Dirty clothes go in immediately. Since my hangers are easy to find, anything I can wear again gets hung up immediately too.
5 Night Time Minutes : I take five to ten minutes at the end of the day to prepare for the next day (lay out clothes, fix lunch, etc.). Just a few minutes at night can save valuable time and stress in the morning.
If you are interested in getting rid of clutter and getting a little more organized, I have an e-book called Get It Together Girl: A 28-Day Program for Practical NOT Perfect Home Organization . Each weekday features a 15-minute organization assignment. Weekends are optional. At the end of each week; I also give some tips on how to stay organized. Tips so simple that even husbands can do them!
The program includes the e-book, daily motivational audio tracks and access to the Get It Together Girl message board and community. The program usually costs $19.95. However, as a P3 Power Boost reader, you can get the program for just $14.95. Click here to take advantage of that offer.

As a trainer, and now as a life coach, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide array of people. From entry-level employees to front-line managers to executives and CEOs, I’ve trained and worked with them all. No matter what their job title or income, I’ve noticed when it comes to making real and lasting changes in their lives, all of them face the same hurdles.
Whether it’s a New Year’s resolution to lose weight or a vow to finally quit smoking, we all face the same challenges. However, there are some very simple things we can do to overcome these formidable obstacles.
Overwhelmed
Often the changes we want to make are pretty major. Giving up a pack a day habit or losing 75 pounds is no cake walk. Yet, at the same time, we make it larger than it really is by focusing on the big picture – the really, really BIG picture.
* “A pack a day is 20 cigarettes. Everyone knows that a nicotine addition is one of the hardest to overcome”
* “75 pounds is a small child! That’s a whole lot of weight.”
We get exhausted just thinking about it! As a result, we never quit before we ever begin, rationalizing that it’s just too much.
There is an old joke that asks, “How do you eat an elephant?” People who have never heard the joke think of all sorts of elaborate answers but the truth is that you eat an elephant one bite at a time . That’s the same way that you lose weight, or start exercising or stop smoking. You do it one pound, one workout or one cigarette at a time.
Overhauled
Let’s say you want to start an exercise program. The reason you haven’t started is that it’s just so expensive. After all, you need the gym membership, the new fancy tennis shoes and of course some new outfits to go with them. It would be great if you could also get a hold of one of those ab-crunching whatchamajigs you saw late last night as you watched Saturday Night Live (while munching on some potato chips). If all those things fell into place, then you could work out.
Likewise, you might put off starting that diet until you have removed every bad food from your pantry and replaced it with its healthy alternative, joined a weight loss program and invested in a fancy new scale.
The truth of the matter is that you’ll never have everything in place and if that’s what you are waiting for, you’ll always be waiting.
The thing to do is to start where you are with what you have. Wear some comfortable clothes and shoes and start taking a walk around the block. Invest $15 or less in an exercise DVD (Walk Away the Pounds is a great one to start with), and walk, tonight.
Over-Achievement
Let’s say you get over the overwhelm and the need to overhaul and you actually begin to work towards your goal. And then, it happens. You have a bad day. You reach for that Krispy Kreme or that cigarette or forget about going on that walk. The next day, you are frustrated and disappointed. You messed up. Now, you ask yourself, “Why even bother?”
As you plan to achieve your goal, you should also plan for setbacks as they will occur. It’s not a matter of if but when . This is not pessimistic but realistic. The thing to remember is to be gentle with yourself but firm. Yes, you made a mistake but it’s not the end unless you decide it is. Forgive yourself and get back on plan as soon as possible.
Over the years, I’ve learned that regardless of the kinds of change you want to make, the secret is to approach it slowly and instead of making big, sweeping changes, make small incremental ones.
Want to go back to school? Then take it one step at a time. Research your schools, fill out your applications, and make an appointment with a financial aid counselor. Each of these mini-goals makes the task of getting an education a lot less daunting.
Looking to lose weight? A week at a time, make one substitution. Replace that sugar 20 ounce soda with a diet one or water. If you do just that and nothing else, you can lose over ten pounds in a year. The next week, replace the chips with low-fat popcorn. Trade in the fried chicken for broiled, you get the picture.
Finally, if you want to make lasting changes, commit to the long haul. All real change takes time, so give yourself the time you need to succeed.

By America’s Energy Coach Jon Gordon
As we fast approach the halfway point of this year, it isn’t too late to start making the changes that can make 2009 a life-changing year! Thank you to Paula Koval for submitting this great list.
1. Take a 10-30 minute "Thank you" walk every day. While you walk practice gratitude. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if you have to.
3. Buy a TIVO, tape your late night shows and get more sleep - it’s the ultimate energizer.
4. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement: My purpose is to___________ today.
5. Live with the 3 E’s. Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy.
6. Read more books than you did in 2008.
7. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, tai chi, qigong and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel for our busy lives.
8. Do the "one thing" you have always wanted to do.
9. Dream more while you are awake.
10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat fewer foods that are manufactured in plants.
11. Mentor someone and be mentored by someone.
12. Engage in daily random acts of kindness.
13. Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing positive energy into your life.
14. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
18. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am thankful for __________. Today I accomplished____________.
19. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
20. Enjoy the ride. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy it.
I encourage you to pick one and try it today!
