Cynthia Johnson has over twenty five years of general management and consulting experience across various industries. She has a broad range of business acumen with expertise in human resources, marketing, and sales, which she developed over years of managing the P&L for some of the top 10 national apparel brands and working with senior leaders as the strategic HR partner to drive organizational strategy and design .
As a human resources professional, she has demonstrated organizational development expertise by: Developing HR Strategy; Designing and Implementing Strategic Recruitment and Retention Processes, Change Management Processes, & Performance Management Programs (Performance Appraisal & Succession Planning/Career Development Systems); Driving Corporate Culture (developing processes and tools); Executive Coaching, Diversity and Training.
As a marketing and sales professional she has demonstrated expertise by: Developing Product Strategy (idea generation, positioning, creating the value proposition); Branding (advertising, PR, promotions); Overseeing Brand Manufacturing and Supply Chain; and Selling (product placement, managing allowances, driving profitability). Cynthia successfully developed and led CMJ Consulting as a marketing consulting firm for 4 years before transitioning the business into the current OD practice area.
Cynthia is particularly skilled at assessing the business situation and applying strategic processes and experience to help senior leaders and teams formulate strategic plans to drive change. Her employee training presentations and executive coaching sessions have helped teams and individuals realize their intellectual, personal, and professional potential, ultimately increasing the profitability of their employer. She is a motivational speaker and trainer, and frequently addresses academic, corporate and community audiences on various topics of business and empowerment.
Cynthia’s corporate experience includes Sara Lee Corporation and Duke Power Company (now Duke Energy). At Sara Lee, her last position was senior director of human resources with the Apparel Division, where she served as strategic HR partner with company presidents and general managers for brands such as Hanes, Champion, Just My Size, Polo and others. Previously with Sara Lee, she was marketing manager for L’eggs Products where she had P&L responsibility and managed a portfolio of brands such as Sheer Energy, Silken Mist and Just My Size to name a few. At Duke Power Company she worked in various general management positions and served as director of human resources.
Cynthia earned a B.S in Organizational Communications from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an MBA in Marketing from Wake Forest University. She is a member of Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), Human Resources Planning Society (HRPS), and National Association of MBAs. She resides in Greensboro, NC with her 2 daughters, Allona and Camille.
